Jaw & TMJ Injury Attorney

Bruises, or ecchymoses, are a tenderness or discoloration of the mucous membranes or skin due to blood leakage or damaged blood vessels into the surrounding tissues. The skin will often be a reddish-purple discoloration that doesn’t blanch when it is pressed down on. As the bruise begins to fade, it turns a brown and greenish color while your body works to metabolize the blood cells back into the skin. Small bruises are referred to as petechia.

If you end up getting hurt and sustaining bruises, you should seek medical evaluation to ensure that no other injury or damage is involved, which at times is not immediate or apparent. Deep bruising can often take quite some time to heal. It could go so far as to making it difficult to move the bone or joint where the bruising occurred. Often one is badly bruised in a car or fall accident. The main thing to remember is that serious bruising may entail more that the eye sees.  It’s prudent to follow-up with a medical professional.  If you’re injuries were due to someone else’s negligence or wrongdoing, please call Michael Manoussos & Co PLLC, a New York premier personal injury law firm, for a free consultation.
